How it all started
Our family has been making extra-virgin olive oil for generations at Yapapi, next to Kalamata, where we live and own about 800 olive trees.
We take care of them all year long, and harvest them by hand. They are like part of our family.
Here we produce an extra-virgin olive oil of fantastic quality. We use it for our own use (Greeks need a lot of olive oil!) and usually sell everything else at a low price to distributors.
For many years, we had a dream: to give access to everyone in the world to our olive oil. We spoke about it at every lunch break while harvesting.
And then, an amazing roadtrip through Europe, brought us closer to Jérôme, who is a French entrepreneur based in Vienna. We talked about our dream and our shared passion for olive oil.
Jerome visit us in Yapapi. We did the harvest together in November 2023 and decided that this product and this story have a duty to travel around the world.
This is how Yapapi began.
Ya-papi in greek means “for the duck". To be honest, we have never seen a duck in our area.
So we made the first drawing of the duck we had never seen.
Now it exists.
